Strategy and architecture work
Most of this happens inside an engagement rather than instead of one. A consolidation or a migration forces a set of decisions: what the target should look like, what gets rebuilt rather than moved, what is retired, and what a realistic sequence is. Those decisions are architecture work whether or not anyone calls them that.
Sunrise does this work where it is attached to something being delivered. There is no standalone strategy engagement to buy here, and no roadmap product. What follows describes how the thinking is done, so you can tell whether it matches the decision in front of you.
Current-state technology assessments
Establishing what is actually running, as opposed to what the documentation and the org chart say is running.
In a Microsoft estate that means identity and licensing, mail flow and domains, device management, and the applications and integrations authenticating against the tenant. Beyond it, it means the systems that depend on those things and the people who know why a decision was made in 2019.
The output is a description, not a score. Maturity models and ratings compress the one thing that matters — the specifics — into a number that cannot be acted on.
Architecture reviews
Where an assessment asks what is there, a review asks whether the design still fits what the organization has become.
Estates are rarely badly designed. They are designed for a company that has since acquired something, changed how it works, or grown past the assumptions. The review is reading the design against the present rather than against a best-practice list.
Target-state architecture
What the environment should look like once the work is finished, with the reasoning recorded rather than assumed. The reasoning is what lets somebody re-decide correctly later, when the constraint that produced the decision has changed.
Where a migration is involved this is not optional and not separate. You cannot sequence a move without knowing what it is moving toward.
Technology modernization roadmaps
A sequence, with the dependencies between the steps made explicit and the order justified.
The useful part of a roadmap is the dependency argument, not the timeline. Timelines drift the moment reality intervenes; the reason step three cannot precede step two survives.
Roadmaps here are attached to work being delivered. A roadmap produced in isolation is a document that ages, and Sunrise does not sell one.
Remediation roadmaps
The same discipline pointed at findings rather than at ambitions: what has to be fixed, in what order, what depends on what, and what can safely wait.
Most of these come out of discovery on a migration. Remediation is what stands between the estate as found and the estate as it needs to be before anything moves. It appears again after a security assessment, where findings arrive prioritized and the question becomes which ones gate the next step.
Cloud strategy
The decisions underneath a cloud position. What runs where. What the identity boundary is. What stays on-premises, and for what reason. And what the cost shape looks like once it is running, rather than at the point of migration.
Sunrise's depth here is Microsoft-centric — Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Azure, and hybrid identity. Where a decision reaches into other platforms it is treated as what it is: a decision Sunrise is helping make, not a platform Sunrise specializes in.
Platform and vendor evaluation
Comparing options against the constraints that actually apply — the estate, the identity model, what the team can operate, and what has to integrate with what.
No vendor pays Sunrise to be recommended, and where Sunrise holds a commercial interest in an option under comparison, the comparison says so. The one bias worth naming is the specialization: the Microsoft options are the ones Sunrise knows in depth.
Vendor-neutral is a claim every reseller also makes, which is why this says what the arrangement is instead of what it is called.
